Gostaria de agradecer a vocês por terem se juntado a mim neste trabalho missionário. Suas orações e apoio financeiro são uma fonte de encorajamento para mim. Sou muito agradecido pela sua generosidade e desejo de se envolver na vida de povos de outras partes do mundo.
Já cheguei em Uganda e estou ensinando o livro de Tiago num pequeno seminário local.
Apesar de aqui ter algumas coisas parecidas com o Brasil, como o calor e a umidade, a vida para mim está sendo muito diferente. O povo é muito hospitaleiro e amigável. Por enquanto estou na casa de missionários. Eles tem sete filhos, alguns são crianças adotadas daqui da África. Na vila onde fiquei para ensinar não tem nem eletricidade nem água encanada. As crianças nos chamam de Muzungus (homem branco que anda em círculos). No local onde fiquei o banheiro era apenas uma palhoça com um buraco dentro. Para tomar banho a gente pega um balde e vai para trás de uns arbustos. Eu preferi tomar banho à noite para ter mais privacidade. Esta semana foi um grande desafio para mim e fiquei um pouco ansioso pensando no meu futuro aqui. Entretanto eu sei que Deus está usando tudo isto. Hoje tomei um banho de chuveiro na casa de um missionário e fiquei muito agradecido a Deus por isto. Como uma coisa tão simples pode significar tanto quando você não dispõe dela. Esta semana eu passei com pessoas num lugar tão sub-desenvolvido que era difícil de acreditar que somos de um mesmo planeta. Mas foi neste convívio que entendi melhor o que Tiago diz quando fala que Deus escolheu as coisas pobres deste mundo para serem ricas na fé. Eles possuem algo que meu mundo desenvolvido parece ter perdido. Eles vivem em harmonia com a Criação, tem uma vida baseada na comunidade e centrada na adoração a Deus. É uma vida muito simples mas lembra a vida criada por Deus que eu vejo no Gênesis. Nossa tecnologia, luxos, desenvolvimento tornou a nossa vida mais fácil mas nos separou da criação, uns dos outros e até do próprio Deus. É tão renovador para mim participar da vida simples do povo de Kodedey.
Por favor não esqueçam de orar por mim. Hoje senti falta da minha casa e da minha família.
